Get ready for an action-packed weekend of MMA and Boxing!

It seems there’s a competition this weekend for the Mexican fanbase with two of the three events listed happening in Las Vegas. Boxing historically grabs the interest, especially with Canelo at the helm. But, Dana White and the UFC want to be in the mix now.

My Mexican boxing associate, Daniel Zaldivar brought me on his podcast “The Last Round” to discuss it and make some picks. Take a listen before the weekend starts.

Here are the biggest bouts you won't want to miss:

  • Canelo vs Berlanga: Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Edgar Berlanga

This one is a classic cultural match-up on the weekend before Mexican Independence Day (Mon. 9/16). With Alvarez facing Nuyorican fan favorite Berlanga. The event airs live from the T-Mobile Arena at 8 P.M ET via PBC pay-per-view. You can order it on Prime Video with my affiliate link here.

  • Noche UFC/ UFC 306: Sean O’Malley vs. Merab Dvalishvili

Granted, none of the main event competitors are Mexican but this is the UFC’s first venture into the Vegas Sphere. It should have fight fans curious as to how they are going to use the venue for this event targeted at Mexican fight fans. How does that experience transfer to a broadcast?

We’ll have to see, but I wrote up some things to watch for over at MyMMANews.

  • Cage Titans 67: Don Shainis vs. Gerry Meuse

Over in the northeast, Cage Titans has two of their fan-favorite fighters meeting in the cage. Shainis, a UFC and Bellator vet who wants to rack up wins and get back to the UFC, and Meuse. A veteran who has an interesting gimmick he’s built his fanbase with. I spoke to both fighters and did a write-up about their match, check it out over at Spectation Sports and sign up to watch if you’re not interested in the Mexican attention battles in Vegas.

Whether you're a die-hard fan or just looking for some exciting entertainment, these fights are sure to deliver.
