Main Card Picks/Preview
It’s May, Mother’s Day weekend, and we have a fresh PPV event on deck from the UFC to look forward to.
Two titles are on the line, and the UFC’s newest middleweight shook things up last weekend just enough to make the division interesting. Also, there may be some changes coming here to MMA Scribbles before the end of the year.
First, the fights:

The UFC makes its return to Montreal this weekend.
The card seems not to be getting the love a regular PPV deserves, but that doesn't mean the fights won’t deliver. We previewed it on this week’s Coast-2-Coast Combat Hour, and if you want the TLDR of it, we think both champs on the card remain.

I’ve been writing about Reinier de Ridder for a while, and it looks like folks are starting to find out why.
He made short work of Bo Nickal last weekend, and he may be getting a top-five matchup next. Although not the one he called out for, either way, it’s a refreshing shake-up for the UFC and the middleweight division.
He called out Sean Strickland and explained why. I wrote about that over at MyMMANews:
Possibly Moving to Substack

MMA Scribbles is my own thing.
When you write for someone else, it gets heavily edited, and sometimes the best stuff gets pulled out.
I enjoy writing, and I enjoy writing about martial arts. Not just news, but about technique and advice. Some of you may know that I help my instructor teach at the BJJ Gym I got my black belt from. I also answer a lot of questions about martial arts on Quora, which led me to start another newsletter called “Mixed Martial Answers.”
I’ve been including the button to subscribe in every post here as well.
I don’t know if it’s the platform or that it’s content that helps more than informs, but that one is really taking off.
So, I may soon migrate this as a section of that over at Substack. If you enjoy getting these, you won’t need to do anything, you’ll still get MMA Scribbles. If you decide you do not want the content anymore, no hard feelings, simply unsubscribe.
Don’t worry, MMA Scribbles will always be free, but I’ve been doing it for a while, and either the sport is stale, the Beehiiv platform has poor reach, or folks just don’t like what I’m writing.
Either way, I’ll be doing it, and you’re welcome to continue to follow along.
Until then, see you in the next one.
