Will Noche UFC / UFC 306 be the Greatest Live Sporting Event in the History of Combat Sports?

We will certainly see.

A recent conversation I had with someone interested in this event, made me think of the answer for this question I had written on Quora. This was back when the lowest ticket price for the event was $1500 (the average being about $3000). At the time I’m drafting this they have dropped down to about $750.

The theme behind the card is one that fight fans can get on board with. I’m referring to the reason why they are calling it “Noche” and Mexican Independence Day (Sept. 16 for those unaware).

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is facing Edgar Berlanga at the MGM Grand that same night as well. Booking Alvarez boxing events is a trend too to bank on Mexican fight fans for weekends like this one. The other is May 5. As a Mexican fight fan myself, I can say that it will certainly be quite the tug of war for attention that Saturday night. Dana White even commented on it to ESPN recently.

As for whether or not it will be the greatest event in combat sports history, we’ll certainly know on Mexican Independence Day. It falls this year on Monday, the day after both events happen. I’m interested to see how they (The UFC) can capitalize on using the Sphere’s technology to make a product that is pretty much presented the same almost every weekend, better than what they have been doing.
