A Star is Born

Magomed Ankalaev won a decision against Alex Pereira last weekend at UFC 313.

It seems to be not well-received by some fans and media and there are people that feel like without “stars” in the UFC, it’ll become boring. Or, turn into something else, longtime fans of the sport have feared, just another circus like the WWE.

I hate to break it to you, but that’s already happening if you look at the new—current fanbase of the UFC.

Everyone will complain about the quality of the card, ticket prices, and events at the APEX, but they all still tune in, and buy the tickets.

We got into this a lot on this week’s Coast-2-Combat Hour. You should just check it out here:

TKO is the True Star

It should be no surprise that the UFC and WWE is looking more like the same thing.

They’re owned by Endeavor’s TKO, which is becoming the most valuable live sports entity outside of your stick and ball sports. Yes, you need athletes to get behind, but if they’re not part of the bigger picture, who’s really going to care?

They are already selling “TKO Takeover” weekends, with the first one in Kansas City this April.

Expect more of that, especially when they add boxing to the TKO menu.
